Speaking to Khaleej Times, Ahmed Saeed, an investigator from the AACDD, said that the new stations would meet the objectives of the department about training home emergency responders towards reacting to dangerous significant occurrences.

He added that the new positions of the AACDD would cover Al Thahrah area.

Meantime, a pickup burnt here on Thursday, causing slight injuries to the local driver.

Giving details of the accident, Ahmed Saeed said that the accident occurred at about 1pm on the main street in Abu Kerrayah area.

On being informed, a team of the AACDD and the police rushed to the site.

Losses have been estimated at Dh20,000.

"The driver was transferred to Al Wegan Hospital for treatment. Later, he was discharged from the hospital after treatment," he said.

The second accident occurred near Al Jimmi Mall (Carrefour) when a blue Toyota Previa collided with Nissan Maxima.

The Toyota driver, a UAE national, broke the traffic lights but failed to avoid the other car.

The daughter of the Maxima driver was slightly injured. She was moved to the hospital by the ambulance and rescue unit.
