In fact, he said, the girl who left her family house in Al Zahra area after a quarrel returned home the same day after having spent five hours outside the home, and was not missing for four days as reported by the English daily.

He said that E. M. left her house at 10am after she had a quarrel with her mother who scolded her. She left behind a note threatening to commit suicide by throwing herself in the sea. The police did not alert the Civil Defence operation as mentioned in the paper, but Al Humaidiya station’s officers contacted her friend in school who said E. M. was staying with her since morning and had intentions to go back home. The police brought the girl and handed her over to her parents who apologised to her mother and to the police.

Brigadier Humaid noted that this is a normal problem faced by a family, and that it could happen with any family. The girl wrote the note out of anger and she made up her mind to return home after she spent some time with her friend. He said that all the information about the rescue patrols and Coast Guards being on alert is wrong and misleading. Brigadier Salih Al Matroushi, Director-General of Ajman Civil Defence, said his department has no information about the missing girl who threw herself into the sea. “The police department did not contact us to conduct any search about any girl.” He denied any official having issued any report to the Operations Room after each day’s search, saying the report is false, and the details fabricated.

Further, the Indian man’s body found on the Ajman seashore by fishermen, had nothing to do with the story of the missing girl, Brigadier Matroushi disclosed. The body of Mustan Mohammed (39), found by the fishermen who informed the Al Madina Police Station, had officers rushing to the site of the accident and contacting the Civil Defence to pull the dead body from the water. The Civil Defence officers were not looking for any missing girl in the sea, and did not stumble upon the dead body of the Indian man, as reported by the newspaper. Instead, he clarified that the dead body was found by fishermen and the Civil Defence was contacted by the police to carry out their normal duty.
