The new mechanism positively affects the manufacturing processes, packing, transportation, storage, sale of drinking water, and cleaning and refilling of empty water bottles.

Dr Mohammed Attia, Deputy Director of the Health Section of the municipality, said that the section keeps a tight control on violations in hygiene and other regulations by conducting regular inspections of companies that manufacture bottled water. The health section made it mandatory for all water manufacturing companies to conduct the manufacturing process in clean and hygienic areas. The manufacturers should also sign a contract with the municipality to undertake regular pest control measures.

The municipality has also made it mandatory for all manufacturing companies in Ajman to conduct the packing operation in sterilised and closed areas.

It has banned packing water in small stations located in public streets. It has also fined and warned more than 30 bottled water companies that violated the hygiene regulations.
