Yehia Al Buloshi, Head of the Environment Protection Section, said that the two comprehensive researches would contribute in detremining the main air and water pollutants and help take steps to contain the pollution that can harm the surrounding environment.

Al Buloshi said that the first research is being undertaken by Abdulla bu Ali, a researcher and environment inspector at the section. He will be closely evaluating the amount of air pollution and chemical vapuor in the air around buildings and construction sites.

The research will contribute in identifying the type of microbes found in the air while offering quick solutions to the problem of pollution in buildings and construction sites.

"Air samples required to conduct the quality of inner air research will be taken from commercial centres, goverment departments and factories. The samples will determine the proportion of humidity, gases such as carbon monoxide and carbon dioxide and organic components resulting from chemical substances."

The second research being prepared by another researcher will prepare a study on the pollutants in the Sharjah Creek. Water sample will be taken from the creek in order to identify the exact type of pollutants which can either be chemical or microbic pollutants.

The research will also determine the pollution caused in the creek by passing ships and the surrounding factories.` The research will contribute in preparing a plan to reduce water pollution that caused by waste products, including factory chemicals leaked into the water.

He said that in order to ensure that the research data is accurate, the results derived will be marked with various dots at various locations of the creek and water samples taken from them and tested. The results of the tests will be derived after six months, after they have been thoroughly examined at the civic body's laboratory.
