Air India continues with contingency plan

DUBAI - Although agitating Air India pilots in New Delhi unconditionally withdrew their agitation on Thursday night, and the airline promised that flights would begin operating normally in two days, the AI office in Dubai said that it would continue with its contingency plan that had been worked out earlier, effective between May 2 and 5.

Three AI flights flew out of Dubai yesterday. The Dubai-Calicut AI-968 flight departed Dubai at 6.15am and arrived in Calicut at 11.35am, the Dubai-Mumbai flight (AI716) left Dubai at 5pm and arrived in Mumbai at 11.45pm. The Dubai-Delhi flight (AI746) left Dubai at 8.30pm and arrived in Delhi at 1.40am.

Indian Airlines (IA) operated an additional flight between Sharjah and Calicut yesterday with the IC1598 flying out of Sharjah at 2.30am reaching Calicut at 7.30pm. K. Shyam Sunder, Manager, UAE, said that an additional flight would be operated on May 4, leaving Sharjah at the same time.

According to him, IA is operating additional flights to accommodate the rush of passengers who have been stranded due to the disruption of AI flights.

Today, the Dubai-Calicut (AI-968) flight will leave Dubai at 6.15am and arrive in Calicut at 11.35am.

The Dubai-Mumbai flight (AI-716) will leave Dubai at 5pm and reach Mumbai at 9.25pm. The Dubai-Trivandrum AI-984 flight will depart Dubai at 8.05pm and arrive at 1.35am.

Tomorrow, the Dubai-Cochin flight will depart at AI-936 at 7.10am and arrive at 12.35pm and the Dubai-Mumbai AI 716 flight will depart 5pm and arrive in Mumbai 9.25pm.
