According to Bharat Chaturvedi, the Airline Manager for Abu Dhabi and Al Ain, the scheme was Air India's way of thanking customers for their loyalty. He noted that the scheme would be valid for tickets reserved between September 10 and October 15, and for those travelling between September 16 and October 15.

He said that original tickets have to be furnished at the airline's booking office in Abu Dhabi or Al Ain for claiming the gift. The tickets have to be purchased at either of these two places, Mr Chaturvedi said, adding that tickets issued during the promotion period will attract a refund charge of Dh50, if completely unutilised. He said about 3,000 people were expected to avail of the promotion.

"We have previously done the same thing, gifting cameras, gold coins, table-fans etc. during the off-season," Mr Chaturvedi said.

The airline is also introducing Group Inclusive Tours (GIT) to several destinations in Kerala like Trivandrum (Dh2,100), Srinagar (Dh2,200), Mumbai (Dh1,400), Delhi (Dh1,200), Bangalore (Dh1,800), Chennai (Dh1,700), Hyderabad (Dh1,800), and Goa (Dh1,800). These fares, he said, were inclusive of economy class tickets to destination, transportation to and from the airport to the hotel, and a three-night hotel accommodation with breakfast.
