ADMC signs pact with leading IT companies

ABU DHABI - Memorandums of Understanding (MoU) were signed between several prominent IT players like FastLane, Microsoft and Sun Microsystems and the Abu Dhabi Men's College (ADMC) yesterday.

The MoUs are expected to positively impact IT learning at the college, and at the Higher Colleges of Technology (HCT) in general.

The agreements were signed as part of the IT Excellence Day at ADMC. According to college sources, the MoUs will provide students with access to the companies' training, conferences, industry work placements.

The agreements will also allow the students to participate in testing and evaluating new and emerging technologies.

The IT Department of ADMC has also become the Official Microsoft IT Academy Partner, which offer several benefits including instructor-led Online Faculty Training, instructional lab software and training licenses, access to technical database and the online library, discounts on Microsoft Courseware, the workforce development resource sheet, etc.

Dr Tayeb Kamali, Director of the ADMC, said that the new agreements were in addition to ADMC recently becoming a VUE test centre. VUE is the electronic testing service of NCS Pearson.

From operation centres in the US, the Netherlands, Australia, China, India, Japan, VUE provides a variety of services to the Information Technology industry and the professional certification and licensure markets.

Mr Kamali said that students will also be able to receive discounts on certification exams as ADMC has now become a CompTIA member.

Students who received high distinctions in Cisco Certified Network Professional, Cisco Certified Network Associate, the CIW, iNET+, Microsoft Certified Professional etc. were also felicitated on the occasion.

The winners of the HCT IT Competition, held last month in Sharjah, as well as the Shaikh Rashid Award winner, were also commended.

As part of IT Excellence Day, presentations were made by Microsoft, Cisco, HP, Intel, FastLane, Alpha Data, Foundry Networks, IBM, Sun Microsystems and eCom Systems on new and emerging technologies.
