ADFCA warning to vegetable sellers

ABU DHABI — Shopkeepers in the emirate of Abu Dhabi, who are not displaying vegetables and fruits on aluminium shelves, have been warned of strict action by the Abu Dhabi Food Control Authority (ADFCA).

For the first violation, fines will be imposed on the shop owner and in the event of repeat violation the shop will be closed down.

Mohammed Jalal Al Reyaysa, manager of communication and information department, ADFCA, said, “The department has banned display of fruits and vegetables on wooden shelves which attract insects that could penetrate the fruits and vegetables.”
