Activities for creative kids end

DUBAI — The summer activities launched by Dubai Municipality's Public Libraries Section on June 11, concluded after eight weeks on July 27.

Held under the slogan "Enjoyable Summer for Creative Children" this year's activities were different and divided into seven 'environs', such as religious environs, knowledge, art, safety, recreational, cultural and heritage environs spread over eight weeks.

This wide range of activities were attended by 650 kids spread over the different libraries, fulfilling their various needs and channelling their energy. There were 11 technical courses, and 20 training courses, eight lectures, 24 field trips, 19 workshops and nine awareness programmes.

This summer witnessed a wide range of activities and courses, which were chosen to assist the children with everything new and useful. Some of the highlights of the courses and activities conducted during the weeks included English language courses, computer courses, an Islamic etiquette course and the Holy Quran memorisation course, in addition to photography, acting, and drawing.

The activities were well supported by volunteers who co-operated with the staff of libraries.

The activities included baking as well as cooking, while Nestle's programme attracted a large number of participant teams of kids with their mothers, for making three kinds of their products (sweets), in addition to the kids market, where the kids themselves conducted the selling and buying of pastries and other bakery items.

The final activities involved story telling, with a variety of stories to match with different taste, in addition to cultural and heritage stories, while the last workshop was read and draw, where kids had to draw the narrated stories.
