Abu Dhabi to launch world’s first WIO forum
ABU DHABI -- Final preparations are underway in Abu Dhabi to launch the world’s first Forum for Women In Ophthalmology (WIO).
The event will take place on the fringes of the World Ophthalmology Congress 2012 currently running at the Abu Dhabi national Exhibition Centre (ADNEC).
The Forum will give an impetus to the efforts to enhance and improve the professional environment for women ophthalmologists.
Vice President of the Congress Dr. Manal Taryam said that empowering of women ophthalmologists will have a positive impact on the wider segment of society, as the specialist lady doctors can have access to women in the gulf society more easily than male doctors.
President of Women in Ophthalmology Dr. Lynn K. Gordon said that WIO encourages diversity, impartiality, economic parity and strives to cultivate new opportunities for leadership, education and public service in the field of ophthalmology for ourselves and future generations.
