The oil and gas conglomerate and Fifa, the world governing body, sign major sponsorship agreement
The Run is being held under the patronage of His Excellency Sheikh Sultan bin Hamdan Al Nahyan, Advisor to His Highness the President of the UAE, and like every year, all proceeds will go to fund further cancer research in the UAE, however, this Run will take place from a new venue and will boast a themed programme to commemorate its 15th anniversary.
The Abu Dhabi TFR has officially entered its 15th year, and to celebrate, the organising Committee is currently cementing plans to make it the best Run yet.
“To mark our fifteen years of supporting cancer research in the UAE, we decided to make exciting changes to the programme, including the venue, theme and entertainment,” said Farid Dabaghi, Chair of the Abu Dhabi Terry Fox Run Committee. “We’re positive that Run patrons and corporate supporters will be very pleased with the improvements we’ve made, and we look forward to welcoming adults, families and students alike on February 19 at the new venue to support this worthy cause.”
Full programme details will be announced closer to the Run date, but the new venue has been confirmed; the Run will kick off from 30th Street on the Corniche to the car park near the Corniche Hospital, and back. People can walk, run, roller-blade or skateboard, and the course is accessible to wheelchairs and strollers, but cycling will not be permitted due to safety precautions. Registration begins at 8am and the Run itself will start at 10am, and will be inaugurated by HE Sheikh Sultan Bin Hamdan Al Nahyan.
Participants are encouraged to arrive early, to enjoy the live programme, soft drinks and sandwiches. Parking will be extremely limited, so participants are encouraged to use public transportation or walk to the site.
