The Abu Dhabi City Municipality called on all community members to join hands with the civic body and its strategic partners in combating graffiti distorting the walls of public and private buildings. The move comes within the framework of the municipality’s strategy aimed at protecting the civilised appearance of the Capital.
In keeping with this drive, and as part of the events of Assematy campaign, the Community Service Division launched a crackdown on graffiti in schools, government institutions and private homes in Al Bahya city on Wednesday.
Abdullah Nasser Al Junaibi, Acting Executive Director of the Municipal Services, said: “This campaign comes in the framework of an integrated plan aimed at ridding our cities and streets of all forms of negative practices that contribute to distorting the civilised public appearance. (This will also) instill the values of collaboration and cooperation between the community and the municipality in order to achieve the common objectives of nurturing a healthy and civilised environment, in which we take pride.”
This campaign, said Al Junaibi, comes in coordination and cooperation with “our strategic partners in order to achieve the set objectives and promote social responsibility”.
“Therefore, we are keen to call upon all community segments and educational and service institutions to support this initiative.”
He noted that before launching the campaign, the municipality conducted a survey spanning all districts and places affected by graffiti in Al Bahya city.
“These areas have been divided into districts and inspection and follow-up teams have been set up, while preparations are at hand to launch the campaign for redressing and cleaning up these distorted areas,” he added.
