The blaze, which was put under control to prevent it from spreading to other stores had destroyed some medical equipment and part of a power room of a trade establishment operating in the seaport.

The reason of the fire has not been immediately ascertained. The Criminal Evidence Department is conducting investigation to detect the cause of the incident.

Using hi-tech equipment and modern fire engines, which were acquired by the unit recently had enabled the firefighters to put out the blaze in a short time and contained the flames. All civil defense centers located near the place had fully coordinated with the Unit in putting the fire under control, thus saving lives and minimising the material losses, which have not been counted yet, he added.
