Abu Dhabi Police foils smuggling of stolen cars

ABU DHABI - Abu Dhabi Police has foiled an attempt to smuggle 12 stolen cars into a neighbouring Gulf country, using counterfeit export certificates.

The police arrested eight Arab men in relation with the case. Four of the suspect, including three truck drivers and an illegal resident, remain in the police custody, while the other four, who are employees of a transport company, were released on bail.

Colonel Maktoum Ali Al Sharifi, Director of the Criminal Investigation Department at Abu Dhabi Police, said 10 of the 12 stolen cars belonged to a car rental office in Sharjah.
