Abu Dhabi Municipality opens new Corniche beach Wednesday
ABU DHABI - The new Abu Dhabi Corniche Beach will be inaugurated on Wednesday, according to a senior official with the Abu Dhabi Municipality.
The opening was earlier postponed by two days.
Salem Al Muammari, Executive Director of Service Sector in the municipality, said yesterday that the new beach, which is 2km in length, covers 11 acres in area.
The 555 palm trees as well as the parks along the beach and the magnificent designs reflecting the local culture would give the beach-goers a good ambience to relax and enjoy, Al Muammari said.
Over 170 parasols are installed along the beach providing the visitors with adequate shade.
Seven monitoring stations have been set up for quick rescue in case of any emergency.
Four playgrounds for beach volleyball are another attraction, Al Muammari added.`
