AL GHARBIA — The Abu Dhabi Food Control Authority will open a branch in the Western Region soon.
The branch will perform all functions of the Food Control Authority, such as licensing and assuring safety of food products.
However, testing samples will be conducted at the laboratory of the head office of the authority until another laboratory is established in the Western Region if needed.
Mohammed Jalal Al Rayaisa, director of the communication and information department of the Abu Dhabi Food Control Authority, said that opening the new branch in the Western Region came as a result of the overall development the region is witnessing, to provide permanent presence that assures the safety of food offered to the public.
He added that this also comes inline with the 5-year strategic plan of the Authority.
Al Rayaisa stressed that inspectors will monitor markets, outlets, restaurants and all food establishments.
He further pointed that the authority will grant food establishments a grace period to rectify their status and make changes in their establishment according to the required municipal standards.
The authority will also launch an awareness campaign in the region before imposing fines on violators.
Al Rayaisa praised the municipality of the Western Region for cooperation.
