Mattar Al Tayer, RTA Chairman of the Board and Executive Director, said the RTA had embarked on building six kiosks at Dubai Creek abra stations including Bani Yas, Al Sabkha, Deira Old Souq, Al Saif, Dubai Old Souq and Bur Dubai.

There will be one kiosk, allotted for selling tickets and offering other services, at each station. The project will be completed within eight months.

He said the Marine Transport Agency had prepared the kiosks’ designs in coordination with the Historical Building Section of the Dubai Municipality.

He added that each kiosk is shaped like a one-level heritage building covering 16 square metres set up on a traditional boat which Dubai was known for in the past.

It will provide comfortable seating arrangements so that one can enjoy the breathtaking view of Dubai Creek. It will also be made of fire-proof materials.

Al Tayer also said the RTA will develop public marine transport worth over Dh1 billion within the next 15 years. The plan will be executed in several phases.
