This year, Adec will fund and coordinate all activities under the Sayfuna Mumayez Programme (Our Distinguishing Summer) which will cater to 15,000 students from grades 2 to 9 and the Summer Challenge Programme for 4,000 students from grade 7 to 11.
For the programme's activities, there are 28 venues across Abu Dhabi and 25 in Al Ain. In the Western Region, there would be separate sites for boys and girls in Madinat Zayed, Al Mirfa, Ruwais, Al Sila and Delma Island.
“This is the sixth year for Sayfuna Mumayez and the third year for Summer Challenge so we have plenty of experience to know what to keep and what to change,” said Adec Director-General Mubarak Al Shamsi.
The programme will offer a wide range of choice to students, including excursions, heritage and culture, art, music, games, projects, cooking, science/mathematics, English, problem solving, IT, sports, fitness, swimming, equestrian and many more.
In the Summer Challenge Programmes, older students will be able to improve their English and IT skills as well as participate in a wide range of vocational activities.
Zayed University, UAE University, High Colleges of Technology, the British Council, IAT and GTZ institutions from Germany are among the providers. All programmes in the Summer Challenge would be in English.
Al Shamsi said, “Students will be supervised at all times. We have employed more bus supervisors, nurses and classroom assistants to make sure students are safe and well cared for.”
