"Both countries have resolved to further strengthen cooperation in a host of areas. We have had a historic and strong relationship for a long, long time," he told a Press conference at the Emirates Palace yesterday.

Describing his first visit to the UAE as historic and successful, the Iranian leader said that the role of the Joint Ministerial Committee (JMC) formed during his visit would play a major role in bolstering ties between the two countries in trade, economy and investments.

"The JMC between Iran and the UAE will develop relations in all fields. It is quantum leap in relations between the two countries," he said.

"Our friendly relationship can be a model for the other countries of the region," he noted.

"Iranian people view this relationship as one of friendship and brotherhood, especially in the sensitive Gulf region where cooperation is vital," Ahmadinejad said.

He said the people and countries of the region needed unity, cooperation, security, safety and brotherhood. "Everybody is looking forward to progress and prosperity. My message to the people of the region is a message of brotherhood, love and friendship," he said.

"Our belief is that the people and governments of the region are willing to cooperate and work hand in hand with each other. The Iranian and the UAE people are brothers together and keen to develop this relationship and cooperation."

He said that during their talks, Iran and the UAE shared views on bilateral relations and cooperation in the region and both reiterated reinforcement of cooperation. He said they also discussed many other subjects like commerce, power, energy, joint investments, tourism, and culture where they had very successful talks.
