ABU DHABI — The Department of Transport (DoT) in Abu Dhabi has invited specialised companies to bid for the procurement and operation of 287 buses to be pressed into service during the second quarter of 2008, DoT sources said.

The move aims to improve public transport service within the emirate as well as the between the capital, Al Ain and the Western Region.

The DoT will examine the bids in December and will award the contract before the end of the current year, the source said.
