Dubai – The Shaikh Zayed Holy Quran Award has seen an outstanding competition from over 85 boys and girls here.
This first of its kind venture, held recently at the Rewaq Ousha Cultural centre, is in memorial to the late father and founder of the nation Shaikh Zayed, under Dr Mouza Gobash, director of the organizing committee, said the function is to promote Shaikh Zayed’s vision of universal peace through the holy Quran.
“The program develops public awareness about the significance of the holy Quran and promotes pure Islamic and Quranic teachings among people.”
The two-day ceremony gave opportunities to students from different schools to discover their gifted talents in memorising and reciting the Holy Qur’an, she added. “Over 85 boys and girls competed in the promising multi-category contest.”
However, only 18 winners were honoured with cash prize, memento and merit certificates for showing excellent performance in terms or memorisation and recitation. “Other participants go with appreciation certificates though.”
Dr Eissa Alhammadi, Vice Chairman of the Association of Humanistic Studies, said Quran is the message of peace. “This may only be sustained by observing its tolerant teachings and spreading them to others.
