A list of the these firms has been sent to the Ministry of Labour.

The licences of these companies had expired for more than five years ago and were not renewed even after the grace period they were granted, Khaleej Times has learnt.

An informed source revealed to this reporter that owners of a few firms had rectified the status of workers. However, the majority of the firms had not done so.

"Cancellation of the companies' licences was to force their owners to rectify the status of their employees. These measures were not taken to give chances to the employers to play tricks with the law," he added.
