6,000 Somali Families Benefit from UAE Aid

ABU DHABI - About 6,000 Somali families have so far benefitted from the UAE’s humanitarian assistance to poor and needy families in Somalia.

The assistance was in line with the directives of the President, His Highness Shaikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Abu Dhabi Crown Prince and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, General Shaikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan and under the direct follow-up of Deputy Prime Minister, Shaikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan. According to Falah Al Ahbabi of Shaikh Hamdan bin Zayed Al Nahyan’s office in Somalia, the projects being implemented by the office in Somalia was part of the leading humanitarian role being played by the UAE in Somalia by providing charity and humanitarian assistance to the needy in various Arab and Islamic countries, particularly during Muslim occasions.

He expressed the hope that his outfit’s activities would contribute in enhancing fraternal ties between the UAE and other Arab and Islamic countries.

He said food items were distributed in seven Somali regions during the implementation of the project in the holy month of Ramadan, adding that food distribution to the poor and needy continues to date to help alleviate the sufferings of the deprived in that country. -
