51,778 Traffic Violations in UAQ in Six Months
UMM AL QUWAIN -The Department of Traffic and Licensing in Umm Al Quwain recorded 51,778 traffic violations in the past six months, Major Obaid Ali Fadel, head of Um Al Quwain traffic aid. The violations resulted in 28,959 black points, he added.
The recorded traffic violations included 3,000 speeding violations, 1241 violation of jumping red-light, 327 for non-compliance with lane discipline for heavy vehicles, 325 for illegal parking, 4 violations of driving a vehicle under the influence of Alcohol and so on.
Major Ali stressed the need for heavy vehicle drivers to abide by traffic rules, where 56 violations were recorded against truck and bus drivers for dangerous overtaking
He said that the decline in cases of driving under the influence of alcohol came as result of black points, as the driver will face driving licence suspension for a period of three months.
