The move follows the directives by President His Highness Shaikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan.

The gesture reflects the President’s keenness to provide a decent living and safe and stable life for all citizens, and an emphasis on provision of adequate housing for every family to achieve the highest goals of the state.

These residences are part of the citizen homes announced by the Abu Dhabi Urban Planning Council (UPC) during the CITYSCAPE Conference 2011 upon the directives of the President and the follow up by General Shaikh Mohammed bin Zayed.

During the conference, agreements were signed to build new residences including the construction of 7, 500 housing units for citizens in the three areas of Abu Dhabi, Al Ain and the Western Region.

The citizens’ houses are being built in accordance with an integrated system of infrastructure and social facilities and services, which are being developed as per the highest standards of quality and sustainability.

In accordance with the agreements, the number of villas and houses to be constructed throughout the Emirate of Abu Dhabi will reach over 13,000.

Yas Island hosts some of 488 luxurious villas developed by Royal Group, which started work in February 2010.
