44 illegals rounded up by police in Sharjah

The Sharjah Police on Monday rounded up 44 people who were found flouting residency rules and conducting illegal activities in the emirate.

Many of them were living in abandoned or under-construction buildings. Jihad Sahoh, Director of the Search and Investigation Department, said the arrested suspects were engaged in various illegal activities like begging. Some of them were found to be absconders from their sponsors and working illegally.

“We have found that most of the arrested suspects were staying in deserted buildings and buildings under construction and were using them as a hub to carry out their various illegal activities,” he said.

“We urge society members to play an active role and immediately report any illegal activity to the police by sending text messages on 7999 or calling 800151 or emailing to najeed@sharjahpolice.gov.ae.
