DUBAI — A total of 415 pedestrians were fined by the police for crossing the roads from non-specified areas between June 20 and July 1, according to the Deira Traffic Department.
Brigadier Mohammed Saif Al Zafin, Director of the General Department of Traffic, said that the department was keen to intensify its efforts to reduce fatal accidents and protect road users.
He said that the department would continue its campaign to check violators of the road safety laws.
He said that police patrols had been assigned to monitor highways, including Shaikh Zayed road, Emirates Road and all internal roads to reduce accidents involving pedestrians. He said that most of these accidents occur because people fail to cross the road from zebra crossing.
