A 40-year-old Asian man attempted to commit suicide by throwing himself under the wheels of a moving truck in Abu Dhabi.
Abu Dhabi Police said the incident occurred on Thursday morning when the Asian man deliberately jumped and threw himself under the wheels of the lorry that was passing along Hamdan Street in Abu Dhabi.
Police said the man survived the crash and sustained injuries and fractures in his legs. 
The Abu Dhabi Police also released a cartoon demonstrating how the man threw himself under the wheels of the truck.
In a statement, the Abu Dhabi Police have warned people against deliberately throwing themselves in front of vehicles to commit suicide or to blackmail drivers into giving them money so they don't report the matter to the police. Illegally seeking compensation is a big crime, punishable by the law.
Police said the force has highly-trained, skillful officers who can identify such crimes and that legal action would be taken against all those caught.
Motorists have been also been urged to be careful while driving and to pay attention to pedestrians crossing the roads to avoid accidents. Pedestrians have been told to cross roads only from designated areas to avoid being knocked down by vehicles.
