3-day Dihad opens today

DUBAI — The three-day long Dubai International Humanitarian Aid and Development Conference and Exhibition — Dihad 2007 will kick off today at Dubai International Convention and Exhibition Centre, under the auspices of His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai.

Different aspects of humanitarian activities will come up for discussion at the conference.

Jean-Marie Fakhouri, Deputy Special Representative to the Secretary-General and Humanitarian / Reconstruction Coordinator for Iraq, will deliver the key note speech in the inaugural session.

Meanwhile, the board of the Dihad 2007 organised a workshop, ‘Introduction to the International Humanitarian Response System’ yesterday.

The workshop discussed the challenges facing the humanitarian aid activities, proposed solutions and ways to work out procedures and steps.
