26 graduate from Sharjah Police Sciences Academy

SHARJAH — His Highness Dr Shaikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, conferred degrees on 26 students of the eight batch of the Sharjah Police Sciences Academy at a function held on its premises in Sharjah University City on Monday.

The 26 graduated from the Law Department and the Police Sciences Deaprtment.

More than 165 students of the academy participated in the parade to mark the graduation day.

The eighth convocation was also attended by Shaikh Sultan bin Mohammed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, and Lt-Gen Shaikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, UAE Minister of Interior, and Lt-Gen Saif Al Shaffar, Undersecretary of the Ministry of Interior, as well as members of diplomatic missions and top government officials.

Addressing the gathering, Brigadier Dr Salim Garwan Al Naqbi, Director of the academy, said the academy was one of the important educational institutions in Sharjah, as it played a great role in educating and training police officers who would dedicate their time and life to face security challenges, and work hard to ensure peace, safety and security in the emirate.

He said five batches of officers had already graduated from the academy and were now serving the country.

The programme featured screening of a documentary film, highlighting the procedures of the academy in preparing the officers, and its achievements in the various fields of security.

He pointed out that the academy made great achievements last year in terms of training and educative programmes. The class halls were fitted with the most advanced equipment. The academy set up a computer laboratory and started using technology to cope with the changing trends of crimes last year, he said.
