Islam is religion of peace, says Imam of Kaaba

Al Ghamdi is visiting Pakistan on an invitation by the government.


Islamabad — The Imam of Holy Kaaba, Sheikh Khalid Al Ghamdi, who flew into Lahore on Thursday led Juma prayers at Bahria Town Masjid, one of the largest mosques in the world. He was warmly received by Bahria chief Malik Riaz Hussain.

Al Ghamdi is visiting Pakistan on an invitation by the government.

In his address, the imam said, “Islam is a religion of peace, love and compassion. There is no place for violence and coercion in Islam. Those indulging in violence are distorting the image of Islam.”

The Imam will be the chief guest at a luncheon on Saturday to be hosted by Punjab Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif.
