10,436 traffic offences

DUBAI — Al Rashidiya Police Station recorded 10,436 traffic violations in October, said Captain Hamood Al Amri, Head of Traffic Section at the police station, adding that parking in prohibited areas topped the list of violations with 1,510 tickets being issued.

He pointed out that failing to abide by the lane rule invited 2,632 tickets, obstructing the flow of traffic 1,381, wrong shoulder overtake 143, jumping the red signal 264, parking on the lots specified for people with special needs 50, risky right shoulder overtake 13, tainting glasses more than the permitted norm 54 and violating spacing rules 525 tickets. Failing to submit driving licence or car registration cards received 13 fines, failing to fasten the seat belt received 137 tickets, reckless driving 16, entering prohibited areas 58, reverse driving 48, trucks driven at prohibited roads 100, traffic flow obstruction (yellow box) 188 in addition to 2,936 other violations.

During March, 1,701 violations were reported, followed by July 1,371, May 1,167, August 1,044, 1,028 in Septmber, 988 in June, 978 in April, 591 in January and 531 in October.
