Dedicating accession day to armed forces lauded
Chief of Staff of the UAE Armed Forces expresses his delight over Shaikh Mohammed's 'Thank You, Guardians of our Nation' initiative.
Abu Dhabi - Lt-General Hamad Mohammed Thani Al Rumaithi, Chief of Staff of the UAE Armed Forces, has commended His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice-President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, for his gesture to dedicate the celebrations of his accession day this year in honour of the UAE Armed Forces, and for calling on others to follow suit.
Al Rumaithi expressed his delight at the ‘Thank You, the Guardians of our Nation’ initiative and said: “We are overwhelmed at this initiative, launched by Shaikh Mohammed, on the anniversary of his accession. It is a gesture that comes from a statesman and military leader with rare traits of goodness.”
Al Rumaithi also credited the late Shaikh Zayed with providing UAE nationals with love and care, which he said still runs deep.
He added that the Armed Forces personnel are honoured by the gesture, stressing their commitment to be the watchful eye, and an invincible fortress that averts all risks and threats.
Al Rumaithi said: “I want to extend our thanks and gratitude to the President, His Highness Shaikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, and to you, Shaikh Mohammed, and your brothers, Their Highnesses Supreme Council Members and Rulers of the Emirates, and General Shaikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, for your roles in establishing a nation of splendour and dignity, which gathered people under one roof, and built an Armed Forces to protect and shield the homeland. Thank you sir (Shaikh Mohammed), for this great gesture of thanks and gratitude, and thank you to all the members of the Armed Forces.”
It has been the custom of Shaikh Mohammed to dedicate his accession day, January 4, redirecting its celebrations to thank members of the community that deserve recognition, asking all citizens and residents to join in and express their thanks. For this occasion, Shaikh Mohammed has launched a social media campaign to allow all to express their love and send their thanks to the Armed Forces on Twitter and Instagram using a newly created hashtag.
Remembering shields of the nation
Dr Saif bin Markhan Al Ketbi, Director-General of the Office of the Crown Prince of Dubai, has extended his gratitude to all individuals of the armed forces in the context of the ‘Thank You, the Guardians of our Nation’ initiative.
“Obeying the order of our great Ruler, we are accustomed to cancel all types of celebrations on the day of his accession to power in order to remember the seamless efforts of the shields of our nation who put the protection of the nation in front of everything in their life,” Al Ketbi said.
