ONE FC presents nine-bout MMA nightout at Dubai World Trade Centre on Friday

Singapore headquartered ONE Fighting Championship (ONE FC) will present nine bouts including three world title battles during the ‘ONE FC: Reign of Champions’ extravaganza, at the Dubai World Trade Centre (DWTC) this Friday — Gates Open at 6pm.

The event is set to be the largest in mixed martial arts (MMA) history and will feature multiple ONE FC World Championship bouts in front of what is expected to be a 5,000 plus sellout.

ONE FC Lightweight World Champion Shinya Aoki will make the first defence of his title since winning it last April 2013 against Kotetsu Boku.

This time he will take on veteran Kamal Shalorus of Iran.

Shalorus during a workout presentation at the HM Fitness Centre located at the Dubai Bowling Centre in Al Quoz, on Tuesday, said: “I have a wrestling background while Aoki is armed with an immense knowledge of judo. He has so many strong points but the first mistake will cost the bout.

“I am here to take the title away from Aoki on Friday in here. Just come and watch. It will be exciting all the way.”

Former WBO and IBA boxing world champion Ana Julaton, based in Chicago, will have the cage for a change to parade her skills as a boxing expert who have mastered the sport of MMA.

Ana, after getting ready with her combat gear at the HM Fitness Centre, said: “I am so glad at last to be in Dubai and I have spent just a few hours here between my hotel and this excellent gym today. This place with all the modern skyscrapers reminds me of home in Chicago. Boxing was my only interest once but I am so grateful to those who introduced me to MMA and making me get right there to perform in front of big crowds.”

Mixed martial arts superstar Roger Huerta will also return to action to take on the undefeated Christian Holley.

The event will also feature a clash between top featherweights Herbert Burns and Hiroshige Tanaka.

The four bouts will witness a main event title fight between Ben Askren and Nobutatsu Suzuki for the ONE FC Welterweight World Championship.

CEO of ONE Fighting Championship Victor Cui stated in a media release: “ONE FC: Reign of Champions is set to be the biggest night in the history of mixed martial arts.”

“A historic four ONE FC World Championships will be on the line on Friday and will feature some of the greatest mixed martial artists from all over the world,” he added. “Shinya Aoki is the greatest grappler in mixed martial arts but he will be tested when he takes on Kamal Shalorus, who has been on a tear since joining ONE FC. Fans are in store for a historic night featuring world class and adrenaline-pumping mixed martial arts action.”
