Bahrain to investigate American document

Bahrain has launched an investigation into a US document on the American-Middle East Partnership Initiative and the possible attempts to unseat governments in Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Yemen and Egypt.

The decision was taken after local newspapers quoted a news report in an American magazine about the initiative that is run by the US State Department and aims to promote the US foreign policy by backing movements in the region, including the Brotherhood, to achieve the US goals.

The Assistant Undersecretary of Legal Affairs at the Interior Ministry, Brigadier Rashid Buhamood, said in a statement on Thursday that the document would be studied to determine if any legal violation had occurred. This includes the use of or receiving money from any source and incidents that occurred in Bahrain in 2011.

He added that any criminal violations of Bahraini law will still be investigated even if the violation occurred outside the country.

Bahrain has been pointing out foreign countries , especially Iran, for the security situation in some of its areas. The government feels that the dialogue process which was suspended early this year is the only mean to protect the country and bring the situation back to normal.
