UAE rider Nasreen Khasro Ali Khalid, riding chestnut gelding Baraka Farid, showed the way to finish the first loop ahead of the others with 117 riders who successfully passed the first vet test. The young lady was followed by Aya Abdulla Reda and Khalifa Ali Khalifan Al Jahouri in a sweeping start of the Wathba Stables.
Aya Abdulla took her nine-year-old crossbred mare Exclusiva to lead, followed by Khalifa Ali as Nasreen Khasro was relegated to third.
By the end of loop three, Aya continued to lead and Khalifa maintained his second position on the heels of the front runner as Ghanim Said Salem advanced to third and the early leader Nasreen slipped to the seventh place. And at that stage, 29 riders were disqualified which is equivalent to 23 percent of the total number of the 128 riders who have started the race.
However, by the end loop five, Al Jahouri reversed places with Aya and hit the front for the first time as the finish line appeared on the horizon. Meanwhile, 128 riders started the gruelling race under favourable winter weather conditions and hit into the heart of the desert.
