CBI supports breast cancer awareness
In support of National Breast Cancer Awareness month, Commercial Bank International, or CBI, has been involved in efforts to raise awareness and funds for the research, treatment and prevention of breast cancer in the UAE.
CBI’s activities included sponsoring the Dubai Gold Pink Ladies Tournament, organising a “Pink Ribbon Breakfast with the CEO” and collecting donations from all the employees of CBI for this noble cause.
For the third year running, CBI is supporting the Dubai Golf Pink Ladies’ Tournament, held at the Emirates Golf Club. More than 80 lady golfers joined the event, bridging their love for golf with a passion to raise funds to combat the life threatening disease.
CBI has supported the tournament for the third year now.
Kris Babicci, CEO of CBI, said: ‘This is a great cause and I am delighted to be able to participate and contribute to something that will make a difference. It is our responsibility to do whatever we can to help our community.’
CBI employees also gathered in efforts to raise awareness and funds for the disease, which affects one in eight women in their lifetime. More than 60 female employees of the Bank attended the charity Pink Ribbon Breakfast with the CEO. The breakfast, held at the Dubai Greek Golf & Yacht Club, was a success in uniting female employees in respect of a cause which affects so many women in the UAE.
During the Breakfast, Dr Ferial K. Aziz, a specialist and speaker on breast cancer awareness from Zulekha Hospital, was present during the Pink Ribbon Breakfast with the CEO as a guest of honour. She gave a presentation on the importance of raising awareness against this disease.
Zainab Noureldini, head of human resources, said: ‘The presentation by Dr Ferial was an eye opener for all of us and made me realise the severity with which this life-threatening disease is progressing in the UAE. We are pleased to be supporting this great cause knowing that the work we all do today will make a great impact in the future.’
On the week of the events, pink ribbons were distributed amongst all CBI staff in honour of the Dubai Golf Pink Ball Ladies’ Tournament, the Pink Ribbon Breakfast and other similar events which seek to raise awareness and funds in the fight against breast cancer.
