Saudi goat sold for 13m riyals
A Saudi livestock breeder sold a male goat to his counterpart, at a whopping price of 13 million riyals, the highest ever price paid for a domestic animal in the Kingdom’s livestock markets, reported a Saudi newspaper.
The Arabic daily ‘Okaz’ said the deal which was struck in the capital Riyadh had sparked wide reactions on social networking websites.
Bloggers, tweeters and other commentators in the social media were surprised over the price, an astronomical figure. Websites circulated the picture of the animal and a cheque which was handed over by the buyer to the seller.
Livestock breeders said the goat is of unique qualities and is one of rare pedigree. They, however, said the value is exaggerated. -news@khaleejtimes.com
