Iran’s Rohani: Nation voted for change

Iranís newly elected president says his election was a vote for change and vows to remain committed to his campaign promises of moderation and constructive interaction with the outside world.

He made the comments in an address to a conference in Tehran on Saturday. His remarks were broadcast live on state TV.

Rohanihas already promised greater openness over Iran’s nuclear program but at the same time has sided with the Islamic establishment that refuses to stop enriching uranium.

He believes it’s possible to strike a deal that would allow the Islamic Republic to keep enriching uranium while assuring the West it will not produce a nuclear weapon.
