Maqbool retains squash title

Filed on November 29, 2012

The UAE’s No. 1 squash player for the last decade, 24-year-old Adil Maqbool, completed an impressive double in the second edition of the recently concluded A2 Squash Championship Series, held last week at the Lakes Club in Dubai, according to a Press release.

Adil, supported by Sahara Group, proved his dominance by coming back from a two games to one deficit to overcome the UAE No. 2, Aamir Khan from Abu Dhabi in five games. The experienced player, who also won the inaugural A2 Squash Championship Series Open in June this year, later partnered his father-cum-coach Khawaja Maqbool to carry home the professional doubles title too. With the Abu Dhabi Open and the first A2 Open Championship under his belt, Adil, former World No. 66 and current 130, took his third title of the year in a very entertaining and fast-paced five setter against Aamir Khan, who was the finalist in the other two events as well.
