BAHRAIN - Authorities in Bahrain on Saturday launched an investigation concerning a video circulated through YouTube and other social media sites showing policemen attacking Bahraini youths atop a building.

The Interior Ministry through its twitter account announced the suspension of some police personnel linked to the case.

A ministry’s spokesperson said that investigation would continue to identify the victims and find witnesses to finalise the case’s legal procedures.

“These practices do not represent ministry’s approach and are against its regulations, hence those who violate such framework would be held responsible,” he said.

The video which was filmed in Shakhura village shows a group of policemen on the rooftop of a building attacking youths with sticks.

Meanwhile, the ministry denied on Sunday any connection with the death of elderly Bahraini Abdulnabi Ali Ahmed, 73, who died at a state-run hospital on Saturday.

His family is claiming that he died of complications resulting from teargas inhalation. The ministry highlighted through its twitter account that the medical examiner of the Public Prosecution attributed the death to natural causes.
