Sharjah Islamic Arts Festival begins

SHARJAH Shaikh Sultan bin Mohammed bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Crown Prince and Deputy Ruler of Sharjah, has inaugurated the Sharjah Islamic Arts Festival in the presence of Shaikh Abdullah bin Salem bin Sultan Al Qasimi, Deputy Ruler of Sharjah.

Being held under the patronage of His Highness Dr Shaikh Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Member of the Supreme Council and Ruler of Sharjah, at the Directorate of Culture and Arts, the month-long festival with the theme ‘Miniatures’ will conclude on January 8, 2012.

Over 100 events, lectures, workshops, film shows, educational courses and musical performances around the emirate are on offer. More than 1,500 works, which represent the most authentic and contemporary artistic trends, are being featured at the event. The Crown Prince toured the festival, where he viewed the works of arts.
