Filed on August 10, 2011

AJMAN From an elderly person suffering a stroke in an apartment and a child fainting on a football pitch to a labourer inhaling smoke at his workplace and a youth getting trapped in a car after an accident, any emergency situation would receive attention on the dot with the Rescue and Ambulance Centre opening in Ajman.

The centre, the first of its kind in the emirate, was opened by Shaikh Sultan bin Abdullah Al Nuaimi deputy director general of Ajman Police on Sunday morning, The centre which is next to a closed Enoc petrol station, has two points on the right and left side of the road.

He said that ambulances and rescue teams would attend all sporting events, large conferences and any activity where a large number of people would gather in the emirate. Residents welcomed the new centre saying it would help rescuers reach the accident scene on time.

“Several accidents happen on the Emirates Road and there was no police station nearby,” said Hafiz Durani, a resident of Ajman, “I have myself been in an accident on the road and we waited for about 30 minutes for a police patrol to come. Imagine if there was a big emergency.”
