Driver dies as car hits truck in Fujairah
FUJAIRAH — A 33-year-old Arab man was killed in an accident on Wednesday night after the car he was driving smashed into the back of a truck on Al Tuween road towards Azn area.
According to Captain Salem Mohammad Burqeeba, Director of Traffic and Patrols of Daqdaqa police station, the accident took place because the car failed to maintain a safe distance behind the truck. The 36-year-old, truck driver, also an Arab, was driving on the right lane coming from Al Tuween roundabout heading to the Azn area. According to him, four kilometers away from the traffic circle, he felt a heavy bang at the back of his truck.
He stopped the vehicle and found that a car had collided against his truck. He and some passers-by hurried to pull the driver out of the car which caught fire a minute later.
The driver was, however, pronounced dead. The driver’s body was shifted to the hospital and was later handed over to relatives. — salah@khaleejtimes.com
