Six in jail, one fined for theft from company
FUJAIRAH - The Fujairah Criminal Court on Monday sentenced five workers to one year each in prison to be followed by deportation after serving the jail term on charge of stealing electric cables, wires and equipment from the company they work for.
A sixth worker was handed two years in jail followed by deportation on the same charge and for hiding the stolen objects in his home until the partners in crime found a buyer. The court also ordered the seizure of the stolen objects. The court also fined a seventh accused a sum of Dh1,000 for covering up the crime as he knew about the theft and did not report it to the authorities. The Eastern Region Police received a tip-off indicating that electric cables and equipment were taken away from a contracting company operating there.
Having investigated into the occurrence and gathering the information required to help identify the stealers, suspicions pointed at a number of workers at the company.
On questioning them, the culprits confessed to the crime.
