Dubai Chamber honours top exporting companies
DUBAI - Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry honoured top export performing companies during ‘SME Exporter of the Month’ recognition ceremony held at the Chamber premises. The ceremony was held in Dubai Chamber headquarter to recognise achievements of three Dubai-based businesses in the exporting sector.
Hamad Buamim, director-general, congratulated the honorees and presented the Certificates of Recognition and the SME Exporter of the Month trophies to Afegra Middle East FZE as a start-up company with the highest invoice value for the month of February, Lisec Middle East Ltd FZE as most progressing company with the highest export growth rate during 2011 and Meka Emirates Trading for achieving the highest total invoice value during April 2011.
Dr Belaid Rettab, Senior Director, Economic Research and Sustainable Business Development, said: “Dubai Chamber strives to recognise, support and encourage the trade performance of SMEs because they play such a major role in Dubai’s business community. More than 90 per cent of businesses in Dubai are SMEs and so their success and performance is vital to the overall health of Dubai’s economy.”
“The SME Exporter of the Month Award is a strategic tool to encourage outstanding performance in the export sector and on behalf of Dubai Chamber of Commerce and Industry; I would like to congratulate the winners for their excellent performance.”
Dr. Belaid Rettab encouraged the winners to continue to work hard to promote Dubai’s reputation as an internationally sustainable business hub, keeping pace with global competition and contributing to business leadership.
Dr. Rettab informed that the SME Exporter of the Month initiative, which is part of Dubai Chamber’s strategic objectives to create a favourable business environment, support the development of business and promote Dubai as an international business hub. It was launched in 2009 under the supervision of Dubai Chamber’s Business Support Department. First initiated as the SME Exporter of the Quarter, the initiative was renamed SME Exporter of the Month in 2010 to recognise and encourage trading companies on a monthly basis, while highlighting the achievements of Dubai’s (re)-exporters.
Top officials of the recognised companies expressed their gratitude to Dubai Chamber for the support provided to them. They said the recognition encourages positive and healthy competition which yields numerous benefits to the company’s performance and helps benefit the overall competitiveness of Dubai businesses.
