Longevity by replacing depleted body hormones

Each one of us wants to remain young and healthy forever. Unfortunately, no one can stop the ravages of time and the process of ageing though we can certainly slow it down.

For those really concerned about their bodies, anti-ageing tests being offered in Dubai can prepare people for age-related disease and help longevity by replacing the depleting body hormones.

The blood-based laboratory tests identify the ageing process in humans and assess how well-maintained an individual is for a healthy old age. “This is a fairly common test though awareness among people and healthcare providers is still low,” explained Dr Sanjida Ahmed, Director for Research at Eastern Biotech and Life Sciences.

Recommended at the age of 30, the anti-ageing profile provides an assessment of the hormonal changes in male and females. The test measures a patient’s level of hormones for a balanced hormone replacement therapy.

Estrogen replacement therapy (ERT) is commonly prescribed to postmenopausal women for symptoms of ageing since it functions to help keep bones strong, reduce risk of heart disease and improves skin elasticity.

“As a person grows old, the body becomes susceptible to many age related symptoms. The first noticeable signs of ageing reflect on our face and body,” said Dr Sanjida.

“This happens due to wear and tear the body experiences during the course of one’s life.”

According to Dr Sanjida, majority of people will not approach doctors until it’s too late. “Caregivers should recommend this test to their patients though not many do it,” she said.

While there are anti ageing tests that can be conducted in the labs, there are many others that you can do yourself, she said. The skin elasticity test is the easiest test to check ageing.

“Squeeze the skin on the back of your hand between the thumb and the forefinger for up to five seconds and let it go.”

“Once the lab tests are successfully completed, we can opt for tests which are more specific to our body and test for other age-related problems such as diabetes and cardiac issues,” she said.

However, the test results have to be assessed by experts before any medication is started.

“The tests are cheaper than the amount we spend on beauty treatments,” she added.
