Pakistan's first lady in UAE
ABU DHABI — Begum Sehba Musharraf, the First Lady of Pakistan, arrived in Abu Dhabi yesterday on a two-day visit to the UAE on the personal invitation of Shaikha Fatima bint Mubarak who hosted a dinner in Begum Sehba’s honour.
Begum Musharraf will visit Zayed University in the morning today to interact with the young Emarati women and visit various faculties. Later, she will visit the Women's Wing of the UAE Red Crescent to pay tribute, on behalf of Pakistan, to the proactive role it played in organising timely and effective large-scale relief and rescue operation for the victims of October 8 earthquake.
She also attended a tea party hosted by Mrs Ahsan Ullah Khan, the wife of Ambassador of Pakistan to the UAE, yesterday evening, Among those present on the occasion were Minister of Economy Shaikha Lubna Al Qasimi, US Ambassador Michele Sison, Nadia Galadari, wife of Mohammed A.R. Galadari, wives of diplomats, dignitaries and women members of Pakistani community.
Speaking to Khaleej Times, Pakistan's ambassador Ahsan Ullah Khan said he had great expectations from the visit, saying it would go a long way in further entrenching the fraternal relationship between the two brotherly countries, which have common views on regional and international issues.
He said the visit of the First Lady to the UAE reaffirms the commitment of the leadership of the two nations to maintain close personal contact at the highest level.
Khan said that the Father of the Nation, Shaikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, had a very special bond of love and affection for Pakistan and his legacy is being carried on by his family.
"Under the leadership of the President, His Highness Shaikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the bilateral relations have strengthened further with greater emphasis on economic cooperation, besides close interaction on political and defence matters,'' he said.
