ABU DHABI — Twenty grooms with special needs, some of whom were born with handicaps and the others who developed disabilities later in their lives, took marriage woes at a mass wedding in Emirates Palace in Abu Dhabi on Thursday.
Lt. General Shaikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the UAE Minister of Interior, witnessed the first mass wedding for people with special needs held in the emirate.
Nassir bin Aziz, supervisor general of the centres for people with special needs run by the Ministry of Interior which organised the event, said the mass wedding was arranged to coincide with the 36th National Day and the golden jubilee of Abu Dhabi police.
