20 'illegals' arrested in RAK

RAS AL KHAIMAH — As many as 20 people have been referred to public prosecution department for imprisonment followed by deportation after they were found to be living illegally in a construction company's camp in Ras Al Khaimah.

According to police, most of the arrested people were of Asian and African nationalities. They entered the country on visit visas and stayed on after the expiry of their visas.

A management official denied they were working for his company and said that those who sheltered them at the company's camp will be dealt with according to the company's rules.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of Labour has warned companies against hiring illegal residents.
